CAM-Raleigh's site-specific installation by artist Thomas Sayre runs from October 7, 2016–February 5, 2017. “White Gold” refers to the cotton industry in the American South, and the artist’s respect and reverence for the land and the labor from which the cotton grows.
Some unexpected materials come into play in these large-scale, site-specific murals for CAM Raleigh. There's Masonite board (did you know this is used to build guitar bodies?). Clay. Kilz paint. Thick drips of tar.
